It was overcast, it was windy and at times we were even cold! Little did we know we were frying in the sun. Literally.
This video was mid day and you can't really tell how burnt I am. I applied a little amount of sunscreen to my chest and my legs, once. You can see the fog in the background.
When we got back to our hotel to get all the sand off of us this is what I looked like. A horrible, lobster red.
This is my back. And my chest.
The next day when we were in Disneyland I was stiff, hot, exhausted, dehydrated and definitely feeling the burn. I couldn't even rub sunscreen into my legs this day because of how badly it hurt.
A few days later I began to peel. My forehead was so stiff that I could hardly move it and I got comments at work about how bad the sunburn looked. I didn't know what was about to happen.
My entire body was peeling. Places that I didn't even know got burnt. It was horrible.
A few days after I got home we were scheduled to make our move back to Washington. I couldn't be in the sun for more than a few minutes without getting tired and feeling like I needed to sit down. When my in laws come into town my mother in law and I took the dogs for a walk at dusk. We worked up a little bit of a sweat and on our way home I put my right hand on my left shoulder because I had an itch. When I lifted my hand up it was wet. I didn't know why this was until I got home.
BLISTERS. Heat blisters are a very real, painful thing.
I read online that you should apply a warm washcloth to any blisters until they burst and then clean the area to avoid an infection. I did so and thought I would be fine going about the rest of our moving activities.
The next day we ventured out to SLC to explore. I was very careful to stay hydrated and stay in the shade as much as possible. Despite my best efforts, more blisters.

PLEASE do your part and put sunscreen on! Trying to "get some color" is NOT a good reason to forego sunscreen. This was a terrible 3 week long experience for me and I will never make the mistake again. If you are going to be outside for a while, put sunscreen on just in case. Like I said, it was overcast, foggy, windy and a bit cold when this all happened to me. It is not worth the paid and annoyance of a burn like this.
