LOVE this band and LOVE this song.
I have lots and lots to say today.
This weekend was Arianna's wedding! The wedding festivities started on Wednesday night with a non-bachelorette, bachelorette party in Portland. It was a scavenger hunt and we had to find/do things all around Portland. It was fun! Then Friday me and some girls went dress shopping and I found some really amazing deals! I got two dresses for $30. I was pretty excited. Then Saturday was the actual wedding! Kelleena and I headed to the temple to babysit all the little kids and totally thought we were late, but when we got there we were actually early. Thank goodness! We walked around the temple for a while wrapped in blankets waiting for someone we knew to show up. We probably looked like freaks! So we met up with everyone and waited in the atrium for about 20 minutes while we waited for the visitors center to open. I love kids they are so cute! One of her nephew's, Braden (Aaron's favorite nephew) and I shared a pretty precious moment. .
Braden sat on my lap and we watched a few videos together in the visitors
center of Christ’s life. One of the video’s started out with Christ on the
cross and Braden said in this serious voice “He got hurt…” and I said “Yeah,
Jesus died for us huh?” and he replied” There’s nails in his hands and right
here *poking into my sides*” In the front of the center there is a huge statue
of Christ. Me almost in tears because of how precious it was asked him if he
wanted to see the holes in Jesus’ hands and feet. He said yes and we walked to
the front. He knelt down and put his tiny hands across the feet of Jesus Christ
and said “Look what they did.” We walked back to the video area and he started the video over again and said "This is too sad. I want to watch something happy." Keep in mind this little boy is 2 1/2 years old. It was such a sweet moment. After about an hour it was time to meet the newlyweds at the giant double doors outside the temple. I was holding Brynlee and Kelleena was testing the camera so she came over at took a picture of us. Right when she put the camera up Brynlee looks at me at says "Cheeeeeese!" hahaha she is the cutest thing ever. Anyway, I was in charge of recording all the special moments throughout the day so we could mail a video to Aaron and to Sean's brother Eric who is also on a mission. I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself ;) They were so happy and excited to be married! It made me so excited for the day I can walk out the temple doors as a married woman!
So I have been thinking lately about who my true friends are. If I were in a bad situation or in the hospital for some reason, who would come visit me? Aaron couldn't cause he is across the world but if he were here I could count on him and my family of course. And who else? I really don't know. Yeah, some friends might text me or whatever but when I am at my lowest points, who comes over and makes sure I'm okay? Jenna has been there. Bryan and Braiden too at times. I don't know, that kind of stuff just gets you thinking "Who really cares about me? Enough to go out of their way to make sure I'm okay? Who cares what happens to me?" Not very many people. But somehow I am okay with that. I am okay with the fact that I don't have a best friend like Carly and Sam or like Spongebob and Patrick. I have had friends like that in the past, but the sun always sets in paradise, right? I have found happiness in other things aside from having a "best friend." Lately it has been hard for me to keep my friends close to me it seems like. I have been offended by people often and I try really hard to be nice to them and reach out but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Sometimes I even wonder if some people even deserve to be treated nice after some of the things they have put me through. I don't always have someone to go to but that doesn't make me unhappy. Being content with life doesn't mean you have everything perfect or that anything is even going your way. Being happy is accepting who you are and knowing who you are. Happiness is never perfection but every day that goes by we can try a little bit harder to put a smile on someones face and spread the love.
The last thing that's on my mind is TIME. Yeah I probably write about time a lot but time blows my mind. Aaron has been gone for 4 months already. Just 5 more 4 month periods. Everything I have gone through in 4 months has been a huge impact in my life. I think I ponder a lot more now than I ever have, for obvious reasons. But time is something that everyone has. Our whole lives are based on time. Time is in everything if you think about it and each and every one of us is on some sort of schedule. We wait for this and we wait for that but we are all just born to have temporal death. It's crazy really. We are here so we can be prepared to be perfected and meet God. To our Heavenly Father we are gone for an afternoon or close to a day. It's like he sends us into the backyard to play and hopes that we don't come back into the house with muddy feet. He hopes that we can use everything that we have learned for the better and that we use our free agency for good versus bad. We are all looking for someone to make us happy on earth and what is behind that? Time. If there were no time the world would be nothing basically. Time is a crazy thought.
With that being said, I'm glad I have time to sleep in this week. Here's to more happiness in our lives and bringing happiness to other this week!
