When we went to hike the Y, I knew it wouldn't be a piece of cake because of how out of shape I am, but little did I know I would literally have to tell my body to fight until I got to the top! My goodness I was so embarrassed by what a baby I was being. My lungs were just starting to adjust and then we climbed another 5,000 feet. BUT it was a good experience and I'm determined to get better at hiking here in Utah.
I got a job a few days after moving here at an Ear, Nose, Throat doctor's office just a few minutes from our apartment. I love this job!! It has always been a high priority of mine to get a job in a medical office, so this was a huge blessing. Not to mention it is a 5 minute drive from home, I get free lunch every day, all the girls I work with are amazing, and I have a great view of the mountains from my office. Oh and we get off early on Friday's AND have weekends off. What more could I ask for?!
We've been here a little over a month now and don't have many complaints. Our apartment is in the best location; close to laundry, mail, groceries, and recreation. There are so many different things to do here that we can never decide on something we want to do on the weekends! I guess that's how it is in a college town though.
Our ward is very small right now with a lot of people away for the summer, but everyone is really nice! Our ward starts at 8am (Is that even allowed?) but we love being able to spend the whole day together! Having church get out at 11am is pretty cool, actually. We have already given talks and have already received callings. I knew they didn't waste any time with the new people, but dang! At least they gave us a chance to unpack all our boxes and get settled! Tripper and I will be the new Temple Preparation teachers in our ward. We were Sunday school teachers in our previous ward, but we were teaching the 12 & 13 year olds, so this will be a lot different. We are excited for this opportunity though and would accept any advise anyone would like to give us! ;)
It's been so nice to have time with Tripper at night! Throughout our whole marriage until this point we have had jobs that go until 10pm or later, and we hardly ever got the chance to eat dinner together on week nights. What a different world it is when you can see your husband for more than 2 hours a day! We've been able to sit down and enjoy dinner together almost every night since we have been here.
A few weeks ago we had the chance to celebrate Glen's birthday. This is the day that we hike the Y and then I made a cake and we were able to celebrate with the Smith family. I can't believe he had already been gone for 2 years. I feel like just yesterday we were saying how many weeks had gone by. He has made me strong and I love being able to think back on all the memories we shared together. I love you Glenny!!
Not two weeks after that day, while Tripper and I were shopping at the mall I got an all too familiar call from my dad saying "Rickey has been in an accident". I had no idea what to think! Our family is so so blessed to still have Rickey with us. I don't know what we would have done losing another family member so quickly. Two broken legs is no minor injury, but living another day on this earth is the biggest blessing this family could have received. So many prayers have been said in the past week and we are continually praying for Rickey to make a full recovery. We all love you so much Ruckus!
We've had lots of fun here already! We're just two kids having a good time in a college town! We can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us here in Utah :)

The apartment life isn't always glamorous ;) This was the day I came home and started making dinner and stuff started spewing out of our sink. The worst part is some other the food in there wasn't ours! It was so nasty. Luckily maintenance responded quickly
